Alex Palmer is currently the Championship’s golden glove winner, ahead of a huge playoff race he could be the difference-maker for West Brom.
West Brom has been having quite a successful season in 2023-24 already, despite numerous factors which suggest they shouldn’t be.
The Takeover situation has been dragging along over Carlos Corberan‘s head and countless big injuries have stopped the Spaniard from starting his favoured line-up.
So despite all these factors which could stop most sides from performing, West Brom have remained in the playoff race, so it would be easy to assume that once everything is settled, Albion will be even better.
But one player who doesn’t seem to care what the circumstances are as he performs throughout is Baggies goalkeeper Alex Palmer.
The 27-year-old keeper will be hoping his form can continue as he could end up being pivotal in the playoff race, here’s why…

Alex Palmer could be the difference-maker for West Brom
West Brom’s shot-stopper has been immense this season and currently finds himself with the most clean sheets in the entire league at seven.
Palmer does owe a large portion of thanks however to his brilliant defence, given he doesn’t boast a bunch of saves.
According to SofaScore, Palmer has only had to make 1.9 saves per game which is the second lowest in the league.
Therefore the clean sheet record belongs to the entire defence but Palmer has been excellent when called upon which makes him the difference-maker and the player who could be vital in pushing West Brom towards the playoffs in the second half of the season.
Corberan will be delighted he wasn’t sold in the summer
Due to how good Palmer has been this season, it is crazy to remember that Luton Town attempted to raid Palmer in the summer, and a deal was close to being done.
Palmer was so close to departing The Hawthorns but has turned his West Brom career around to the point now where we couldn’t imagine anyone else in goal.
Carlos Corberan will be delighted that the deal fell through.
