History of the stadium:
The Hawthorns has been the home of the Albion squad since 1900 after West Brom had played their home matches at several different grounds in their early years.
The stadium was the last Football League ground to be built in the 19th century and at an altitude of 551 feet, it is the highest above sea level among those of all 92 Premier League and Football League clubs.
During the 1920s, the stadium underwent various developments and expansions. The capacity increased, and The Hawthorns became a more modern and comfortable venue for football matches. The stadium continued to evolve over the years, and floodlights were installed in 1957, allowing evening matches to take place.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, The Hawthorns underwent further renovations and modernization. New stands were built, and facilities were upgraded to meet modern standards.
Two new video screens have been installed in the ground in recent years. One at the Smethwick End side of the East Stand and the other in the opposite corner of the Halfords Lane Stand.
