Phillips ‘real class’ against Coventry

Writing his ratings in reaction to the win, Drury gave Phillips an 8/10 for his contributions to the game.

He wrote: “Albion have a number of players who have really stepped up during this injury crisis and Phillips is certainly one of them.

“Showed real class at times to drag Albion up the pitch and his pass for the goal would have had its own five-minute section on Match of the Day had it been a top-flight match.”

Phillips didn’t just contribute the assist and was excellent in multiple other aspects of the game.

Four key passes along with an 81% pass completion rate according to SofaScore showcase just how excellent he was on the ball for the Baggies.

Defensively he was also great, winning five duels along with five tackles and three clearances made him an almost unbeatable prospect for opponents.

He was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch for either side and was a deserving man of the match. He will hope to put in a similar display on Saturday against Hull City.
