West Brom moved into the playoff spots last night with a 2-0 win over last season’s playoff final team Coventry City. In the win, Jed Wallace didn’t paint himself in glory and fans have been reacting.

West Brom’s playoff aspirations were massively benefitted on Monday night with a huge win over midland rivals Coventry.

The win comprised an early goal from Grady Diangana and a second after half-time from Brandon Thomas-Asante.

Despite picking up all three points, captain Jed Wallace was on the receiving end of criticism.

The criticism came from Brommies fans on social media which concluded that the forward should be dropped.

Fans react to disappointing display v Coventry

After a poor display against Coventry, West Brom fans have all been saying the same thing.

One fan was among the majority in saying on X: “Wallace needs to be dropped.”

This was agreed with by another who said: “Wallace needs to be dropped we’re playing with 10 right now.”

Another gave a review on why Wallace was so poor: “I don’t see how Wallace works as a striker, he’s no threat running at people like Diangana and he’s too slow to run in behind”

A fourth also questioned the captain’s performance: “Wallace man stop strolling and get your head in the game, uninspiring captain’s performance again.”

Wallace didn’t play atrociously, and really Carlos Corberan should take a lot of the critique.

The main issue from the performance is that Wallace isn’t a striker and offers little in that role, but in terms of his passing, he was still brilliant.

One big chance created according to SofaScore tells that story and we doubt he would be getting the same criticism would be being aimed at him if he was playing further back.

A solid idea to not play him there again.
