Carlos Corberan has now been hailed as a master tactician in his efforts to drive West Brom to the playoffs this season.

West Brom is entering the Christmas period in a strong position, seventh in the league and has multiple reasons to be positive.

Carlos Corberan has been a revelation this campaign as he has got this squad performing well above where many assumed they’d be, especially with injuries and takeover talks to contend with.

This weekend however, Carlos Corberan faces his toughest test of the season yet against Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town.

We ran through the five things Corberan has got right at West Brom earlier this week, now he has been hailed as a master tactician by EFL pundit Adrian Clarke.

Corberan a master tactician

Speaking on this week’s episode of the What the EFL?! podcast, Clarke admitted that only Corberan’s tactical genius could stop Ipswich from making the game a high-scoring affair.

“I think this could be an absolute cracker, I mean the only issue is Carlos Corberan, for me he’s probably pound-for-pound the best tactician in the Championship.

“I think he comes out with some very, very smart game plans and I think with a pretty thin squad that’s been decimated by injuries to key players, he’s doing great he really is.

“I just think he will have had a long time to plot this one against Kieran McKenna and you do wonder whether it’ll be more about negating Ipswich’s strengths than going out there and scoring goals themselves.”

Corberan can frustrate the joint league leaders

Corberan will be aware that Ipswich are probably the most dangerous attacking side in the league right now.

But he will also be aware they’ve conceded a lot of goals, something he will be confident his side can capitalise on.

Corberan’s Albion have the joint-best defensive record in the league so if they can stop Ipswich and grab a goal themselves it could be a really successful day for The Baggies.
