West Brom travel to Leicester City in the Championship this weekend.

West Brom are back on the road this Saturday where they head to the King Power to face title hopefuls Leicester City.

As things stand, the Foxes sit in 2nd place of the table and have a game in hand on both Ipswich Town in 1st and Leeds United in 3rd, with a one-point gap to both sides too.

The Baggies meanwhile are in 5th place of the Championship table after a 1-0 defeat against Sunderland last time out; their first defeat at The Hawthorns since February.

Carlos Corberan remains without a few key players, including the likes of Daryl Dike, Martin Kelly, and Jayson Molumby.

But Corberan is reportedly eyeing up Josh Maja for a return against Leicester City this weekend.

The Nigerian international arrived on a free transfer last summer but has seen his maiden season at West Brom thwarted by injury.

He made a brief cameo against Rotherham United earlier in the month but was left out of the side against Sunderland.

He’s so far scored one in 10 Championship appearances for the Baggies.

Lewis Cox drops team selection verdict ahead of Leicester City

Taking to X, journalist Lewis Cox has given his verdict on Maja and the 25-year-old potentially featuring more heavily against Leicester City.

Cox believes that Maja will start on the bench against Leicester City and that Jed Wallace will lead the line, in place of the suspended Brandon Thomas-Asante.

Cox posted:

Jed Wallace now under pressure at West Brom

For Wallace, it’s been quite a mixed 2023/24 season.

The Baggies skipper has been no stranger to criticism and performances like his second half cameo against Sunderland last weekend prove why.

He’s not been as potent as he has in previous seasons, with five goals and five assists in 39 Championship appearances.

Tom Fellows has also displaced Wallace in the XI of late, with Mikey Johnston occupying the other wide position.

So for Wallace, taking his opportunity this weekend will be key, albeit difficult against a Leicester City side fighting to get over the promotion line.

And with Maja now eyeing a return to action as well, it’ll keep Wallace on his toes.

Corberan will be keen for Maja to get fit in time for a potential play-off bout, too.

But having players back and fighting to be in the starting XI is certainly a nice problem for the Baggies boss to have.
