West Brom moved into the playoff spots with a 2-0 win over Coventry City last night, but Cédric Kipré was lucky to not give away a penalty.

Goals from Grady Diangana and Brandon Thomas-Asante got the job done for West Brom against Midlands rivals Coventry.

One man who wasn’t great against Coventry however was Jed Wallace who has been heavily critiqued after the match by fans.

The 2-0 win was enough to see the Brommies move up to fifth, despite a very lucky moment being crucial in that happening.

The lucky moment came as Cedric Kipre’s handball wasn’t given which prompted Sky Sports’ Jobi McAnuff to say Kipre was ‘very, very lucky.’

Kipre ‘very lucky’ after handball claim

Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff who was speaking during the game, was adamant that Kipre was lucky to avoid giving a penalty away after the ball hit his hand.

“It comes off the surface very quickly. I think the big question is ‘could he have got his arm out the way?’ or does that arm go towards the ball?

“And for me, it definitely does. Potentially, another question mark over where it hits, in terms of the height on the sleeve but certainly, I feel that he gets a little bit fortunate.

“For me, the arm definitely goes towards the ball. I think he’s a very, very lucky boy.”

Probably the correct analysis as it would be easy to understand why a penalty could be given.

However it didn’t go that way and now the Baggies will be aiming to continue rising up the table, with a playoff spot definitely up for grabs.
