West Brom have been enjoying an impressive campaigin in the Championship this season.
Under soon to be former owner Guochuan Lai, the Baggies did not invest any money on signings in either transfer window. Instead, they have been limited to loans and free agent additions.
That may have dampened expectations at times across the course of the campaign.
Yet despite that, Carlos Corberan‘s side are still well in contention for a play-off place. With that of course, comes a shot at promotion to the Premier League.
West Brom currently sit 5th in the Championship table, four points clear of 7th place Norwich City.
Now it seems as though the Baggies’ performances have earned them a rather high profile admirer.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp impressed by West Brom
One of those West Brom are currently competing with for promotion to the Premier League, is Southampton.
The Saints currently sit 4th in the Championship. Their next assignment though, sees them travel to Anfield to face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Speaking ahead of that game, Klopp has revealed his admiration for English football’s second-tier. Within that, it seems he is particularly impressed by West Brom.
The Liverpool boss was quoted by Daily Mail Sport reporter Lewis Steele as saying:
“I love the Championship, I watched Leeds v Leicester last week. Wow.
“The football intensity in the Championship is absolutely insane. Saw West Brom recently, a real football-playing idea. Ipswich as well. The league is incredibly difficult.”
With West Brom already out of the FA Cup, they are next in Championship action on Friday night. That sees them host another play-off hopeful, Coventry City, at The Hawthorns in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Klopp claims hard to argue with
It is rather hard to argue with that observation of West Brom from Klopp in all honesty.
The job that Corberan has done at The Hawthorns is a remarkable one in the circumstances.
Not only has he been able to keep them competitive in the Championship despite a relative lack of backing, he has got the club playing some excellent football in the process
As a result, this sort of praise for West Brom from one of the top managers in the game, does feel well deserved.
Indeed, if this is seen by those around The Hawthorns, the fact they are earning such respect should give them plenty of confidence for the remainder of the season.
It is also worth noting that with Shilen Patel seemingly on the verge of completing his takeover of the club, Corberan will no doubt be getting even more backing sooner rather than later.
That in turn, should allow him to take the club even further. As a result, this does feel like a rather exciting time to be a West Brom supporter.
