West Brom fans have been handed yet more positive news regarding the club’s ongoing takeover.
West Brom remain tangled in a takeover saga which has beset them for several months now.
Leading up to January, there were positive murmurs that a takeover could go through in this New Year, but warnings that should a takeover not go through, it would be perilous for West Brom.
But since the turn of the year, West Brom fans have been handed a lot of positive news on the takeover front.
Owner Guochuan Lai is said to have identified his preferred bidder after receiving three ‘credible’ bids for his club.
And now, football finance expect Dr Daniel Plumley has shared his positive take on the matter.
Dr Daniel Plumley predicts West Brom takeover progression
Talking to West Brom News, the football finance expect said when asked if the Baggies’ takeover is continuing to make progress:
“It seems to be. The overriding point as with any football takeover is once you see it over the line, it’s done and it can be put to bed, but it seems to be the way the narrative has played out, that it is close.
“We knew that before Christmas that talks were in pretty advanced stages, so I think all of that points to a positive in the sense that it’s going to get over the line.
“Then, of course, you overlay what’s happening at the moment and that’s important for the club in the next couple of weeks and moving into the future, we’ve seen potential talks of new contract talks for the manager and some of the players as well.
“Logically, you then look at that if those talks are starting to take place or at least are on the horizon, there must be something going on that suggests the overall takeover or whoever is running the club will be sorted out.
“Again, all signs point in that direction.”

It isn’t over until it’s over
West Brom fans have had takeover hopes in the past; admittedly none as high as this, but they’ll know that a takeover isn’t final until it is.
And reports in the past week or so have been very positive indeed.
Lai looks as though he’s doing his best to get the club offloaded onto another owner and after years of mismanagement and poor spending and so on, it definitely marks the start of a new and bright chapter for the club.
Keeping Carlos Corberan around for the long-term is paramount. So too is securing new deals for the horde of players out of contract this summer.
If West Brom can enjoy a positive second half of the season then it’ll do the club a huge favour in tempting their assets to stick around for the long-term.
Right now though, all eyes are on this takeover. It comes at quite a critical time with the Baggies in the middle of a promotion-pushing season and in the middle of what is a very crucial transfer window, with Corberan desperately in need of new players.
Hopefully we’ll see some more progression on the takeover front in the coming days.
Up next for the Baggies is a trip to Norwich City this weekend.
