West Brom have been dealt a fresh injury concern following last night’s 1-0 win over Cardiff City.
West Brom moved up into 3rd place of the Championship table after winning 1-0 away at Cardiff City, courtesy of a Jeremy Sarmiento goal.
The Baggies have now won five of their last six in the league and sit just seven points behind Ipswich Town in 2nd.
Injuries have been a key theme for Carlos Corberan this season. But despite that, he’s managed to make very strong promotion candidates out of his side.
And once again, the Spaniard has been dealt a new injury concern, this time regarding Jed Wallace; the West Brom skipper was forced off half-way through the first half of last night’s game.
What’s been said?
After the game, Corberan told Birmingham Live of Wallace:
“The injury he received in an action at the beginning of the game. He tried his best to stay with the team but unfortunately he couldn’t keep playing and now we don’t know if the injury will affect him for Saturday or even more, I don’t right now. It was his shoulder.
“I didn’t speak with him yet, I asked him how he was feeling, he said he had a lot of pain and couldn’t carry on with the game, we don’t know anything yet, honestly I don’t know anything.”
The 29-year-old has come under scrutiny this season, but put in one of his best performances of the campaign so far in the 2-0 win over Ipswich Town last weekend.

A blow for Corberan and West Brom
Wallace is certainly a key player. Whether he’s in form or not, his presence on the pitch is always a plus for the Baggies, and Corberan will be praying that his injury isn’t a serious one.
But with the likes of Josh Maja and John Swift back, Corberan now has some good depth in the final third, and Wallace’s injury might just mean a bit of a reshuffle.
Sarmiento put in a good performance last night and Wallace’s injury could mean a run of starts for the Colombian, who’s only started twice in the Championship this season, scoring his second goal for the Baggies last night as well.
If not, Corberan had both Matt Phillips and Brandon Thomas-Asante on the bench last night; both worthy of a starting spot, showcasing the quality that West Brom have in their ranks right now.
Up next for West Brom is a home game vs league leaders Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
