West Brom beat promotion frontrunners Ipswich Town on Saturday to move into the playoff places, but have been warned of an issue in the team.

West Brom laid down their most impressive result of the season on Saturday, beating Ipswich Town 2-0 at The Hawthorns.

The win was a real statement toward West Brom’s promotion ambitions and move them into fifth place.

But as the race for playoffs and eventual promotion heats up, West Brom could find themselves at a disadvantage to those around them.

Albion have now been warned of a potential ‘issue’ with the squad that could hinder their playoff aspirations.

West Brom have an issue

Speaking on the What the EFL?! podcast, EFL pundit Adrian Clarke explained the one issue West Brom could face as the Christmas period approaches.

“They just look a solid 11 at the moment, the issue of course is depth they need those players back off the treatment table quickly.”

This critique is a valid one and is shared by many fans given the lack of financial backing Corberan has had since his arrival.

As of now, Albion just don’t have the same levels of depth that those around them do, which will go against them in the race for playoff football.

West Brom have a scarily thin squad right now

The view that West Brom need to strengthen due to poor depth is now an unpopular one and through looking at the squad that faced Ipswich we can see that clear as day.

Outside of the first team, there are players returning from injury who will require some bedding in time before they are ready to go.

Others such as Jeremy Sarmiento have simply failed to live up to expectations since his arrival on loan during the summer.

A lot of the issues here could in fairness be solves with the injury crisis easing, however in order to really push for promotion, some names will need to arrive in January.
