West Brom managed to beat Ipswich at the weekend and once again Carlos Corberan’s defence was the standout.

Carlos Corberan has his Baggies on fire, and currently the league’s most inform team. This comes after Albion’s 2-0 promotion statement win against Ipswich that is probably the season defining point up until now.

Ipswich were level with Leicester before Albion stopped them in their tracks and adding another impressive clean sheet.

The defence at The Hawthorns has really caught the eye this season, with multiple impressive individuals coming together to give West Brom the divisions best.

Now EFL Pundit Adrian Clarke has been discussing West Brom‘s defence and the impressive job Corberan has done.

Clarke praises Albion defence

Speaking on the What the EFL?! podcast on Monday, Clarke was full of praise for West Brom’s performance against Ipswich before he singled out two players who have formed a great partnership.

“We know they haven’t really got any money, the manager’s working with what he’s got and I think he’s doing a terrific job.

“He’s got them defensively really solid, I think it was a mature performance, they did ever so well to tame an Ipswich team that has scored so many goals this season and they barely got a sniff in this game.

“Who’d you put that down to, I think it is collective effort but the centre-halves are definitely developing a very, very good partnership.”

The centre-back pairing in question of course being Kyle Bartley and Cedric Kipre.

West Brom defensively sublime

The clean sheet against Ipswich meant that West Brom are now alone as the team with the most clean sheets in the Championship.

Eight clean-sheets after 17 games is an insane record which is a massive part of their current league standing.

The club have conceded the third least goals too, behind two top sides in Leicester City and Leeds United.

This impressive record also reflects well on Alex Palmer who is now two clean sheets clear in the race for the golden glove.
