Eric Ramsay continues the search for his first win as West Brom Boss, as his side could only manage a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Charlton Athletic.
West Brom have already fallen short of Jed Wallace’s six-point target in a week of six-pointers as Ramsay’s reign is almost certainly set to come to an end.
The Baggies will feel it is yet another opportunity missed as they failed to capitalise on chances before being caught off guard as Charlton converted their first proper chance of the evening.
Here are West Brom’s player ratings from another disappointing night at The Hawthorns.
Max O’Leary – 6
Was rarely called into action; there was not much he could do about the equaliser after being let down by his defenders.
George Campbell – 8
A misplaced pass was his first contribution of the evening before failing to give Albion the lead with a great chance after 25 minutes. Grew into the game and was the man who gave Albion the breakthrough on the stroke of halftime.
Nat Phillips – 7
Commanded the back four, read the game well and limited Charlton’s chances. Was a constant threat at the other side of the pitch from set pieces.
Charlie Taylor – 5
Caught sleeping for Charlton’s equaliser, failed to cut off the ball into Lyndon Dykes for the equaliser. Fairly comfortable up until that moment but failed when called upon.
Callum Styles – 6
Had to watch his challenges after being booked. in no man’s land for the equaliser.
Ousmane Diakite – 7
Solid performance; what he lacks in attacking ability he makes up for defensively. Cut off numerous passes in midfield and supported the back four when needed. Was replaced after the equaliser as Ramsay opted for more attacking options.
Jayson Molumby – 8
An impressive display with his back to goal as a number 10. Recycled the ball quickly and was one of few players injecting some urgency in possession in the first half.
Continued in the same vein after the break, would like to see more of him playing further forward. Almost fed Isaac Price into double the lead midway through the second half after a smart turn.
Alex Mowatt – 7
An ambitious 25-yard effort just before halftime was his highlight of the first half until he assisted the first goal with a dangerous corner.
A calming influence in the middle, did his job quietly in midfield.
Isaac Price – 4
A quiet evening for the Northern Ireland international, who offered very little. Outshone by Johnston and should have been subbed sooner. A shadow of the player he was at the start of the season.
Josh Maja – 5
No idea what is going on with Maja, just failed to find any space up front in the opening 45 and often struggled to read attacks, leaving him caught offside.
Should have made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute, did everything right, but failed to capitalise with his finish dragging it wide of the far post after breaking through on goal.
Miles off it. Pulled off on the hour mark.
Mikey Johnston – 9
Encouraging the first spark forward in the seventh minute, driving the ball forward and injected some pace into West Brom’s attack. Then gifted George Campbell the perfect chance to open the scoring on 25 minutes, only for the defender to head straight at the keeper.
The best attacking outlet in this West Brom side, nearly everything went through him. Denied by great defending five minutes form the end.
West Brom substitutions
Aune Heggebo – Could have done more to stop the pass for Charlton’s equaliser.
Jed Wallace – Failed to get up to speed in the game.
Jamaldeen Jimoh – N/A
Danny Imray – N/A
