Three things learned as West Brom draw 1-1 v Charlton

A point may be enough to keep Eric Ramsay in the West Brom dugout, but it does little to ease the pressure.

West Brom’s 0-0 draw with Charlton Athletic does a lot more for the fellow strugglers, as Ramsay’s winless streak as Baggies boss stretched to nine games.

The Baggies remain a point outside the dropzone, with the trip to Oxford United now an absolute six-pointer if they are to avoid the drop.

Eric Ramsay the main attraction

Nothing is a greater sign of a manager under pressure, prior to kick-off at The Hawthorns, a sea of cameras surrounded Eric Ramsay as he stood on the touchline, knowing full well this was a game he could not afford to lose.

Ramsay’s future has been the main talking point this week, with reports suggesting the West Brom board have been working behind the scenes to make plans for his departure.

Unfortunately for Ramsay, his West Brom side did little to ease the pressure.

Fan apathy clear at The Hawthorns

Kyle Bartley’s West Brom rallying cry has clearly fallen on deaf ears. The former West Brom skipper recently asked Albion fans to play their part and support the side by “staying until the end”.

He may have been better off asking them to turn up in the first place, as empty blue seats filled the stadium. Cries off “you’re getting sacked in the morning” echoed around the ground following the 2-0 defeat Coventry on Saturday, fans are now showing their lack of faith by not turning up at all.

A worrying state of affairs at West Brom currently, with attendances that will only get worse with relegation to League One.

West Brom take the lead for the first time under Eric Ramsay

George Campbell’s headed goal ignited a quiet first half on the stroke of halftime. It was the first time Albion had taken the lead in a game under Eric Ramsay.

A milestone that could mark a significant psychological breakthrough for Eric Ramsay’s Baggies. After weeks of tactical adjustments and mounting pressure, going into the break with a lead to defend at least offered a glimmer of hope, albeit it was the first goal in four games.

All eyes are now on West Brom owner Shilen Patel, who has a decision to make on Ramsay’s future ahead of the trip to Oxford on Saturday afternoon, with Albion needing their first win on the road since October.
