West Brom are in talks with neighbours Aston Villa regarding a possible deadline day swoop for this defender.
West Brom are facing a busy final few hours of the winter transfer window.
It’s been another subdued transfer window for the Baggies whose only signings are Andi Weimann and Callum Marshall; both arriving on loan, from Bristol City and West Ham respectively.
There’s other names linked with a possible move to The Hawthorns, including AC Milan’s Chaka Traore and Celtic winger Mikey Johnston.
Now though, it looks like Carlos Corberan‘s attentions might be turning towards a defensive addition, with Aston Villa man Calum Chambers reportedly a target.
Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath posted on X earlier today, revealing that West Brom and Villa are in talks over a possible deal for the 29-year-old:
Calum Chambers to West Brom unexpected, but potentially huge
All the focus for West Brom this month has either been on the takeover, or on bolstering attacking ranks.
And they’ve done the latter with Weimann and Marshall, although another loan addition on the flanks seems necessary after Jeremy Sarmiento’s exit.
Now though, and rather unexpectedly, it looks like the Baggies want a late addition to their defence, and they don’t come much more experienced than Chambers.
The Englishman has 176 total appearances in the Premier League and three caps for the Three Lions as well, with 122 total appearances for Arsenal during his eight-year spell in North London.

He’s fallen out of favour at Villa Park but his experience and ability to play at right-back or centre-back would make him a great addition at West Brom, who’ve been relying heavily on Darnell Furlong at right-back.
In the middle, Kyle Bartley can often succumb to injury so getting back up for him, and quality back-up too, seems like it could be pivotal as the Baggies vie to join Aston Villa in the Premier League for next season.
