West Brom are among the Championship teams eyeing a loan deal for this Celtic forward.

West Brom are yet to get any new signings through the door this month, in what’s proving to be a very difficult transfer window for a lot of clubs in the English Football League.

There’s been a noticeable downturn in the number of transfers going through this month and West Brom are one of the many that are yet to get a single body through the door.

But with a week left of the window, there’s hope that the Baggies will conduct some late business, and one name now linked with a potential switch to The Hawthorns is Celtic’s Liel Abada.

Daily Mail say West Brom fancy loan deal for Liel Abada

Abada, 22, has had a stop-start season owing to injury, featuring just six times in the Scottish top flight and scoring once.

Last season, and in the season before, he netted 10 league goals for Celtic and won the league title twice.

Now though, the 10-cap Israeli international could be on his way out of Celtic Park on a temporary basis, with Daily Mail revealing that Championship trio West Brom, Watford, and Southampton are all keen on a loan deal, as well as clubs in France and Germany.

Celtic signed Abada from Israeli side Maccabi Petach Tikva in 2021; he signed a five-year deal with Celtic paying a reported fee of £3.6million.

Baggies set for loan haul in final week of window

Given the ongoing takeover situation and the poor financial situation at West Brom, loan deals always looked likely this month.

And attacking signings look likely too with Carlos Corberan still dealing with a depleted squad; more so than usual with Grady Diangana among those to have headed to AFCON this month.

Abada looks like a shrewd potential option given his goal-scoring record, and given the fact that Celtic don’t want to sell him, it tells us that they rate him highly.

Watching videos of Abada in action, he seems like a very rounded striker who can nick scrappy goals inside the six-yard box, who can also head the ball, and who can also run at defender and run in behind too.

He boasts a lot of attributes then, and in a very fluid West Brom attack under Corberan, a player with Abada’s versatility could be extremally useful.

With many teams interested, and teams in top divisions in Europe too, it might not be an easy pursuit for West Brom, but Abada could be a very shrewd potential signing nonetheless.
