Nathaniel Chalobah suddenly looks likely to remain at West Bromwich Albion following the collapse of his move to Maccabi Haifa.

According to journalist Joe Chapman, writing on his Twitter page, Nathaniel Chalobah now looks set to stay at West Brom given that he won’t be making the switch to the Israeli side.

Carlos Corberan will have been planning for life without Chalobah, as the player’s move looked close. However, the situation has now changed and the midfielder will be reintegrated into the squad at the Hawthorns.

There is a chance that the Baggies may still seek to move the 28-year-old on this summer, but it seems probable that he will remain with the Midlands outfit. Whilst the once-capped former England international has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter since his arrival in January, Corberan should be pleased to still have him around.

Chalobah can have a big impact for West Brom

A Chelsea academy player, Chalobah broke into the first team at Stamford Bridge in the 2016/17 season, and went on to help the club claim the Premier League title that year. An injury-ravaged three years at Watford followed, before he was able to make himself a key figure for Fulham whilst they were still in the second tier.

Chalobah still has plenty of quality. He is in the prime of his career, and has the potential to be a star player for West Brom this season. If he can stay fit and earn a regular starting role, Chalobah has the potential to kick on and become a transformative presence in the middle of the park for Albion.

If that does now go on to happen, West Brom fans will be delighted that Chalobah’s move to Maccabi Haifa never got over the line.
