West Brom ‘will consider serious offers’ for any of their players in the upcoming January transfer window, reports Birmingham Live.

January is just around the corner and for West Brom, it’ll be another pivotal transfer window.

The Baggies currently sit in 5th place of the Championship table and are impressing under Carlos Corberan, who’s made dark horses out of West Brom despite numerous setbacks.

Summer was tough for the club. West Brom’s financial struggles were somewhat laid bare, with the club having to offload the likes of Dara O’Shea and loan out Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Karlan Grant to take some strain off the wage bill.

And it looks like there could potentially be more outgoings in January.

What’s been said?

West Brom recently announced that they’d taken a further loan from MSD UK Holdings Limited in order to fund their ‘general business operations’.

In wake of that, Birmingham Live reporter Joe Chapman discussed the January transfer window, stating that it ‘doesn’t really affect’ the club’s ability to recruit in the New Year.

Chapman then outlines the fact that West Brom’s wage bill remains inflated and that the club will listen to offers for their players.

He wrote:

“Albion will consider serious offers for any player which comes their way, if it makes financial sense for the club, but they will not be held to ransom or entertain offers which fall well short of the player’s market value.”

Who could be sold in January?

West Brom have some valuable assets in their side and given their impressive form this season, there could be a few players attracting interest and potentially moving on.

Corberan will be desperate to keep the side intact but West Brom need to sort their finances out and one or two player sales seems like a real possibility.

The likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante, Grady Diangana, and John Swift had suitors in the summer and all three could easily come back into the transfer spotlight in January.

Diangana in particular seems like someone who could be moved on if a suitable offer comes in; given how much the club spent on him, he’ll surely be a big earner as well, and he’s performing well right now so there could be teams looking at him.

The likes of Nathaniel Chalobah also had suitors in the summer and came close to leaving, whilst Matt Phillips, Alex Mowatt, and Cedric Kipre all just three of the names out of contract next season, and three names who’ve played well this season.

Times are hard West Brom, but on the pitch, the Baggies are really prevailing.

Up next for Corberan’s team is a trip to Cardiff City tonight.
