West Brom could be in store for a busy final 48 hours of the January transfer window.
As expected, it’s been a very quiet January transfer window for West Brom, whose only signings have been Andi Weimann and Callum Marshall; both on loan.
Still, it may be two more signings than most Baggies fans expected, with much of their hopes on a takeover going through sooner rather than later.
Carlos Corberan‘s side though remain in play-off contention despite a distinct lack of investment over the past 12 months, and the Spaniard could yet be treated to a late loan signing.
Graeme Bailey tips West Brom to explore a late loan move
Speaking exclusive to The Baggies News, transfer expect Graeme Bailey predicted that West Brom might be in the market for a late loan signing.
But he also revealed that West Brom’s finances are at absolute zero, with no major movement expected in the final two days of the transfer window.
He said:
“I’m told West Brom have got no money to spend this month. Might be a loan or something but I’m not expecting anything major from what I’m told at the moment.”
One player linked with a last minute loan move to The Hawthorns is AC Milan’s Chaka Traore; the left-winger made his Serie A debut earlier this season and is said to be of interest to the Baggies and Swiss side Lausanne.

Last minute attacking addition needed
If there’s one thing West Brom still need more of, it’s attacking additions.
The defence and central midfield is quite well-stocked, especially when everyone is fit, but the attacking department lacks and even more so when the bulk of West Brom’s injuries are in the final third.
Replacing Matt Phillips has been tough, made more so after the recall of Jeremy Sarmiento earlier in the month, so a signing like Traore looks like one that would make a lot of sense.
And as per Bailey’s comments, a late loan signing like this looks like the most probable outcome for West Brom in the final days of the January transfer window, should they pull off any late deals at all.
There’s a testing few weeks and months ahead for the club with a takeover still desperately needed to secure the long-term future of the club.
Up next is a home game vs Birmingham City next weekend; Blues are managed by former Baggies boss Tony Mowbray who’s overseen an immediate upturn in form, with two wins, a draw, and one loss in his first four games in charge.
