5 West Brom players who could be up for sale in January amid financial uncertainty

West Brom are heading towards a crucial January, with a takeover touted, and very-much needed.

West Brom appear to be embroiled in takeover talks ahead of the New Year.

And those talks carry a monumental weight with recent claims revealing the dire financial situation at The Hawthorns.

It’s said that West Brom’s current finances are set to run dry early in 2024, meaning that a takeover is vital to securing the club’s long-term future.

Given all of that, a few player sales could be necessary in January, especially if a takeover stalls, and here we look at five West Brom players who could be up for sale in the New Year…

Grady Diangana

Diangana is the first name that springs to mind here.

West Brom paid a huge amount to sign him back in 2021 and he’s had mixed spells since. This season though he’s been in good form, and his stock may be as high as it’s ever been since he joined.

And given the fact that the Baggies somewhat broke the bank to bring him in, he’ll surely be one of the higher earners, so a sale could make sense for the club.

The midfielder is a huge favourite among Baggies fans.

His quality is evident whenever he steps onto the pitch, and he’s perhaps one of the many players that rival Championship clubs would look at should West Brom put on a fire sale in January.

He’s a proven player in the second tier and a potentially valuable asset in this West Brom side, with Swift potentially able to fetch a few million pounds should he be sold on.

Alex Palmer

The goalkeeper has emerged as one of the best in the Championship under Carlos Corberan.

He’s a very well-rounded no.1 and he was a wanted man in the summer, which is a credit to his emergence and importance in this West Brom XI.

With a solid back-up in Josh Griffiths waiting in the wings, Palmer could well be offloaded in January if needs must.

Nathaniel Chalobah

Chalobah was another wanted man in the summer, and it appears that he came closest to leaving too.

He plays a rotational, albeit still important role in this West Brom side, but it seems like Chalobah is one of the first dispensable names in this current first-team given the depth ad quality in West Brom’s midfield.

Tom Fellows

The emerging West Brom talent has turned heads in recent weeks.

He’s slowly been introduced to the first-team by Corberan, and Matt Phillips’ recent injury could give Fellows a run in the XI, or at least some more game time.

But the Baggies are prone to selling emerging talents and that could be the case here should West Brom need a cash injection next month, which seems probable.
