Eric Ramsay has been sacked as West Bromwich Albion boss after just nine games in charge at The Hawthorns.

The ex-Manchester United coach’s first head coach role in England was cut short after West Brom’s defeat to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night.

A result that means the Baggies have managed a measly return of just four points from their last 10 games, with Ramsay failing to record a single win as West Brom boss.

West Brom issue statement as Eric Ramsay sacked

The news was confirmed by the club on Tuesday night after growing resentment from fans who fear West Brom could very realistically drop to the third tier of English football for just the third time in its history.

A statement on the club website read: “West Bromwich Albion have parted company with men’s first team Head Coach Eric Ramsay.

“Assistant Head Coach Dennis Lawrence has also departed The Hawthorns.

“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Eric and Dennis and wishes them well for the future.

“First Team Coach James Morrison will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis.”

West Brom now face an increasingly difficult relegation battle with just 12 games remaining.
