West Brom may be sweating over the availability of one key player for their upcoming FA Cup clash against Wolves this weekend.

West Brom welcome Midlands neighbours Wolves in a highly-anticipated FA Cup fourth round clash this weekend.

It’s the first time that the two teams have met since they were both in the Premier League in 2021, and Wolves will be going in search of their first win at The Hawthorns since 1996.

It promises to be an enthralling occasion and an exciting clash between two teams playing good football this season.

And Carlos Corberan may be dealt a timely player boost ahead of the weekend, with Grady Diangana potentially able to feature.

West Brom sweating over Grady Diangana availability

Diangana is currently away on international duty with DR Congo at AFCON

The 25-year-old has played just 14 minutes of football in this year’s tournament and his nation could be knocked out tonight when they go up against Tanzania.

DR Congo currently sit 2nd in Group F and a win for Tanzania would see them leapfrog Diangana’s side, potentially throwing them out of the tournament depending on the result between Zambia and Morocco this evening.

Should DR Congo be knocked out of AFCON, then Diangana could potentially be in line to feature against Wolves this weekend.

Diangana availability could be key

Diangana has enjoyed a strong season so far.

He’s scored five and assisted four in 21 Championship outings, showcasing his best form after a resurgence under Corberan in the past 12 months or so.

He brings quality and versatility to the West Brom front line and if he’s available to feature this weekend, expect him to.

But Diangana might well start on the bench; Corberan will be preparing for this game without Diangana and so there’ll be a clear game plan in place which Corberan may be unlikely to deter from.

Having Diangana to bring on in the second half though would be a huge boost and a potential game-changer on Sunday, and given the fact that he’s not played a lot of football at AFCON, he should have some fresh energy to bring back to West Brom.

Sunday’s game kicks off at 11:45am.
