Brandon Thomas-Asante is already impressing his teammates as West Brom prepare for the new season.

As shown on the club’s official Twitter account, Brandon Thomas-Asante has made a bright start to pre-season. His fitness levels have been particularly impressive. Baggies teammate John Swift has praised the 24-year-old’s energy levels, saying “Brandon has impressed me the most in pre-season so far, especially with the running…You see in matches how quick he can be and how much he can put defenders under pressure with his running, but actually over a long distance, the ability to just keep going and going and going is something he’s really strong at. I think a lot of the lads have been really impressed with Brandon so far.”

Thomas-Asante arrived at the Hawthorns from Salford City last summer. He enjoyed an solid first campaign for the Midlands outfit, and even scooped the club’s official goal of the season award for his stunning strike against Stoke City.

Can Thomas-Asante kick on?

If West Brom are to secure a return to the Premier League this season, the Milton Keynes born forward will have to kick on even further. He bagged seven league goals last time out, but didn’t manage a single assist. He will need to improve his tally on both counts in the upcoming campaign.

His start to pre-season looks to be standing him in good stead to make the necessary progress. It’s a long, gruelling season in the Championship, and Thomas-Asante’s pace, stamina, and fitness are weapons that he can use to good effect by putting opponents to the sword late on in matches.
