West Brom have had very little luck when it comes to centre forwards and injuries this season.
Brandon Thomas-Asante has just returned following a stint on the sidelines, and is now building his way back up to match fitness.
Daryl Dike meanwhile, is facing another long spell out of action, with another serious leg injury.
Meanwhile, Josh Maja has also seen his opportunities limited following his move to West Brom in the summer.
Now though, it appears as though the centre forward is making positive progress towards a return, in what will be a welcome boost for Carlos Corberan and his team.
Josh Maja update emerges
Maja joined West Brom back in the summer transfer window, signing on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Bordeaux.
The 25-year-old signed a three-year contract, securing his future at The Hawthorns until the end of the 2025/26 season.
However, he has so far made just nine first-team appearances in an injury-hit debut campaign for the Baggies. He has scored once in that time, in a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City.
Maja’s last appearance for West Brom came in a 2-1 loss to Sunderland in mid-December last year. He has since been absent with a serious ankle injury.
However, it now appears as though he is closing in on a return to action for the Baggies.
In a post published on their X account on Tuesday, West Brom revealed a picture of Maja in training, along with the caption ‘Josh is Back’.
Corberan’s side return to action after the international break on Friday afternoon. They travel to The Den to face Millwall.

A welcome boost for West Brom
The sight of Maja back in training is undoubtedly one that should give the Baggies a big lift.
With the likes of Asante, Maja and Dike having all been out recently, it has been impressive to see the club continue to pick up the points that they have in recent months.
However, having the likes of Asante and Maja back and in contention to feature, now gives Corebran an extra option in terms of how he can set up his West Brom side.
Indeed, at such a key stage of the season, having that attacking firepower back, could be vital for the club as they look to win promotion back to the Premier League.
Of course, after so long out, it is likely Maja will need a bit of time to work his way back up to match fitness once he is back in contention.
Even so, that may allow him to time his comeback perfectly, with the play-offs now moving onto the horizon.
Maja has shown previously in his career when fit and in form that he consistently get goals, and so this update must be exciting for those of a West Brom persuasion.
