West Brom are among the teams keen on a potential loan deal for Villarreal striker Ben Brereton Diaz, reports TEAMtalk.
West Brom look as though they could be in store for another turbulent transfer window in January, after the club were forced into selling Dara O’Shea in the summer, and limited in who they could bring in.
Despite that, Carlos Corberan’s side are doing well in the Championship; the Baggies sit in 5th and are just two points behind Leeds United in 2nd.
And in an exciting bit of news, West Brom have been credited with an interest in former Blackburn Rovers man Brereton Diaz.
Who is Ben Brereton Diaz?

Brereton Diaz spent time with the likes of Manchester United, Stoke City, and Nottingham Forest as a youth player, with the latter giving him breakthrough.
Though it was with Blackburn Rovers where he made his name, scoring 47 goals in 176 total outings, and making a surprise allegiance to the Chilean national side where he’s become something of a cult hero. Brereton Diaz has 53 total Championship goals to his name.
His Rovers contract expired this year and he went on to join Villarreal, though in eight La Liga outings, he’s yet to score, and TEAMtalk say that the likes of West Brom, Leicester City, and Southampton are among the sides keen on a potential January loan.
Burnley and Crystal Palace have also been credited with an interest.
A good fit for West Brom?
West Brom, as it stands, don’t have many strikers. Brandon Thomas-Asante is the only fit striker available to Corberan right now, and so Brereton Diaz would be a good addition for the here and now.
Obviously we’re outside the transfer window and so that’s not possible. And come January, West Brom look set to have both Daryl Dike and Josh Maja back, so another no.9 may not be the priority.
But Brereton Diaz is a versatile player who can play on either flank or even as a no.10 so he could be of use to the Baggies, and given the club’s recent injury record, having another striker in certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing.
The difficult here might be beating the likes of Burnley and Palace, and even Leicester and Southampton to the potential signing.
