Jack Colback could be set to join West Brom this summer.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, reporting on his Patreon page, free agent Jack Colback has a group of Championship clubs chasing his signature, with West Brom amongst his options.
Colback is currently without a club, having left Nottingham Forest upon the expiry of his contract at the end of last season.
West Brom’s spending power is limited this summer, so they will be looking to take advantage of free transfers and loan deals to bolster their playing squad. They have already made a fine start in this regard, with the recent acquisition of Brighton’s Jeremy Sarmiento on loan.
Colback could be the next one in through the door at the Hawthorns, if the Midlands outfit can win the race to secure his services. Carlos Corberan will likely want additional depth in his midfield contingent, and Colback would certainly offer that.

Should West Brom sign Colback?
At 33-years-old, Colback is slightly beyond his best. However, he can still be a very useful option at Championship level. He also brings with him a wealth of experience, having played over 400 games in his career, all for clubs in the top two tiers of English football.
Having come through the academy at Sunderland, Colback established himself in the Black Cats’ first team in 2011, following a loan stint with Ipswich Town. The midfielder went on to have a long spell at Newcastle United before making the switch to Forest.
Forest boss Steve Cooper has previously been full of praise for Colback, highlighting the “hugely important” role he played at the club, as quoted by Nottinghamshire Live.
Until last season, when he only managed 11 Premier League outings, Colback was a key figure at the City Ground. He could be such a presence again for Albion. Colback’s work rate, passing ability, and tactical intuition would make him a real asset to Corberan. He could fulfil a similar function in the squad to the one Jake Livermore provided.
