West Bromwich Albion’s Taylor Gardner-Hickman has spoken out about how he feels he is progressing in pre-season training.
Taylor Gardner-Hickman scored twice for West Brom, as the club were held to a 2-2 draw by Salford City in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday evening.
Carlos Corberan will be disappointed that his side threw away a two goal lead, but ultimately this match was merely a fitness exercise, serving to get some valuable game time into his players’ legs.

Taylor Gardner-Hickman’s big season
With pre-season in full swing for the Baggies, the West Brom players will all be working hard to ensure that they’re fit and sharp in time for the start of the new Championship season. After scoring his brace, Gardner-Hickman spoke about the processes that he and his teammates are currently undergoing as Corberan strives to whip the Albion squad into shape.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Gardner-Hickman said, “it’s so nice to see that things we are working on are coming to light in the games…I feel fit and sharp and the coaching staff and the manager are working us really hard to make sure we’re ready. It’s been good because we’re not just working on physical stuff and running, we’re working tactically and technically too. There’s a real togetherness and that’s only getting stronger and stronger each day.”
West Brom will be hoping for a big season from Gardner-Hickman. The 21-year-old full-back has now truly established himself in the first team squad since breaking through from the academy in 2021. The versatile youngster will now be wanting to kick on and keep impressing in the second tier.
