West Brom entered a new era on Thursday night, as a takeover of the club moved a big step closer.

It was announced that Florida businessman Shilen Patel, and his father Dr Kiran C.Patel, have reached an agreement to buy a controlling stake in the club’s parent company.

As a result, Shilen Patel is now set to become the Baggies’ new chairman.

Whenever a club is taken over, there can often be questions about the changes those coming in want to make, and what that could mean for the current managerial team.

Now though, it appears the situation with regards to Carlos Corberan’s future with West Brom in the wake of this latest takeover update has become clearer.

Shilen Patel a Carlos Corberan fan

According to an update from Express and Star reporter Lewis Cox, Shilen Patel’s role as chairman will see him more involved with the club than his father.

That it seems, could be good news for Corberan and his hopes of remaining West Brom manager for some time to come yet.

It is claimed that Patel, who is due to take on his role from next week, is a ‘huge supporter and admirer’ of the current Baggies boss.

As a result, it seems as though the Spaniard has a good chance of remaining in position at The Hawthorns going forward.

There are still over three years remaining on Corberan’s contract with West Brom, securing his future with the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Carlos Corberan update is welcome news for West Brom fans

This revelation of Patel’s admiration of Corbean is positive news for those of a Baggies persuasion.

The Spaniard has done a brilliant job with the club. Under him, West Brom are challenging for a play-off place despite the fact they have invested and signed nowhere near as much for their squad as other clubs in the top six.

As a result, it would seem incredibly harsh to sack him now, after all the work he has put in at the club.

Indeed, both the success he has enjoyed with the team, and the personality he has brought to the club, have made Corberan very popular among the West Brom fanbase.

It would therefore, make little sense for the owners to alienate them immediately after taking over, by letting Corberan go.

As a result, it seems there are a good chance that Corberan will not be going anywhere in the near future, which can only be good news for West Brom.
