West Brom have enjoyed a memorable few days both on and off the pitch.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Bilkul Football Company had completed their takeover of the club.

That has seen Shilen Patel replace Guochuan Lai in the role of chairman at The Hawthorns.

Then, Friday night saw the Carlos Corberan‘s side pick up three more points in the race for a play-off place, with victory over top six rivals Coventry City.

Goals from Mickey Johnston and Grady Diangana had put West Brom 2-0 at half time in that game.

Haji Wright pulled one back from the penalty spot in the second half, but the Baggies managed to cling on to claim another win.

Following that victory, Corberan’s team have remained 5th in the Championship table.

However, they have moved seven points clear of 7th place Norwich City in the battle for an all important top six spot, ahead of the rest of this weekend’s games.

Now it seems as though Patel himself, is already well aware of the significance of that latest win for West Brom.

Taking to X at full time in that game, the new Baggies chairman simply wrote: “Three. Massive. Points.”

Next up for West Brom is a trip to Loftus Road to face QPR on Wednesday night.

Promising signs for Baggies

Friday certainly looks to have been an encouraging night for those connected with the club.

On the pitch, this was another win that has further strengthened West Brom’s position in the play-off race.

While it may not have been the prettiest, it did show that they are able to grind out results at times.

The fact they did so against another team they may be competing with in the play-offs come the end of the season, only adds to the positivity around it.

Off the pitch meanwhile, Patel has recently pledged that he will be more open and involved when it comes to communication about the club, than his predecessor was.

With posts like this, he is already backing that up, by showing his interest, emotion, and understanding of the position the club find themselves in when it comes to the Championship table.

It is likely that fans, players and officials at the club will appreciate that, further helping to lift the mood at The Hawthorns.

Friday night therefore appears to have been a rather successful one in every respect for those connected with West Brom.
