The West Brom takeover seems to be progressing with a sale price now reported along with potentially two interested parties.

The reign of unloved West Brom owner Gouchuan Lai seems to be reaching its conclusion with takeover talks progressing.

It has been reported that Albion are in talks with two potential buyers, with a value of £60 million viewed.

Coming in a report from the Daily Mail, the financially troubled Baggies have drawn interest from various overseas groups including one which is based in the United States.

The report then goes on to suggest that David Hinchliffe will be involved in the takeover, which is good news considering he is among the best in his field.

Sometimes described as a ‘legend’ of football takeovers, Hinchliffe is as real as it gets and was in attendance for Albion’s victory over Hull City last Saturday.

Hinchliffe has been involved in several takeovers already including Evangelos Marinakis’ purchase of Nottingham Forest and also Andrea Radrizzani who bought Leeds United.

With two buyers in talks, it is highly likely that we are reaching the end of Lai’s time at Albion, and many fans will be delighted with that.

How much is West Brom worth?

With a sale being discussed at just £60m, Lai stands to make a loss of £115m on the club, given he purchased Albion for £175m back in 2016.

The real value of the Baggies is probably a whole lot higher than the figure they’re likely to be sold for however through poor ownership, value has plummeted.

Therefore whoever comes into the club will probably see the value instantly improved north of £100m.

Carlos Corberan will be hopeful that whatever goes on with the takeover doesn’t affect his side on the field.

Corberan has got the Baggies playing so well this season and sit in fifth currently, with a quick takeover and some backing in January, promotion could absolutely be on the cards.
