West Brom picked up another important win in their attempts to secure a Championship play-off place on Friday night.
That came with a 2-1 victory over fellow top six hopefuls Coventry City at The Hawthorns.
As a result of that win, Carlos Corberan‘s side have now lost just once in their last seven Championship games.
Thanks to that run, West Brom are currently still 5th in the second-tier table, four points clear of 7th place Norwich City in the battle for a top six spot.
Now, one Baggies player who has received some particular praise after that latest win, is Mikey Johnston.
West Brom benefitting from Mikey Johnston
Johnston was one of those brought to The Hawthorns during the January transfer window.
The winger joined West Brom on loan until the end of the season, from Scottish champions Celtic.
On Friday, the 24-year-old scored his third goal in just seven appearances for the Baggies, to open the scoring in that win.
Picking the ball up on the left, Johnston cut inside past multiple Coventry City players, before curling an unstoppable strike into the top far corner.
That is certainly far from the first time he has impressed since arriving at West Brom. Indeed, one person whose eye he has certainly caught, is Sam Parkin.
Speaking about his favourite Championship goal of the weekend on The Championship Check-In podcast, the former Swindon Town, Millwall and Luton Town striker said:
“In terms of the goals we saw this week I thought Johnston’s was far and away the best one and no surprise really. When I have read the odd bit on him it seems like quite a few Celtic fans are saying, well couldn’t we have given him a bit more of an opportunity.
“So it’s 100% West Brom’s gain and I expect a couple more of that ilk to probably go flying in the net this season as well.”
Next up for the Baggies is a trip to Loftus Road to face QPR on Wednesday night.

Permanent Mikey Johnston deal must be on the agenda
An extended deal for Johnston will surely have to be considered by West Brom come the summer transfer window.
The winger has been excellent since making his move to The Hawthorns, playing a key role in their recent impressive form.
He would therefore, be a major asset for the Baggies if they could secure him on a longer-term deal.
Indeed, given he is still only 24, he is a player who could have a big influence for West Brom for many years to come in that case.
Given he was struggling for opportunities at Celtic, they may be open to such a deal as well.
Meanwhile, the fact Johnston has enjoyed such success since linking up with Corberan’s side, means he too should be open to a move such as this.
With all that in mind, it would seem foolish if West Brom do not at least look into a new deal for the winger come the summer.
