West Brom striker Daryl Dike has endured yet another difficult week in his Baggies career.

Only last month, the striker returned to action after nine months out with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

During Saturday’s game against Ipswich Town however, the American was stretchered off the pitch in tears after picking up yet another injury.

It was then confirmed on Monday that the West Brom man has ruptured another Achilles tendon. As a result, Dike is now expected to be out until the end of 2024.

With the striker now expected to be out of action for another long period, the Baggies were quick to show their support for him in Tuesday night’s match at home to Cardiff City.

That it seems, is something that Dike clearly appreciated.

Prior to that clash with Cardiff City, Dike’s teammates warmed up in shirts carrying his name and squad number at The Hawthorns.

Then, in the 12th minute of the game, applause could be heard from all four corners of The Hawthorns to show further support for the West Brom man.

That is something that Dike himself understandably wanted to recognise.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to respond to the images of the West Brom squad warming up with his name and number the striker wrote: “Love this team so much. Thank you everyone”

In reaction to the minutes applause to show further support for him during the game, Dike added: “All this warms my heart, I couldn’t be more thankful”

Baggies doing all they can to lift Dike

It is going to be an incredibly tough period for Dike to endure right now.

To have missed such a long spell of his career once with this injury will have been challenging for the West Brom striker.

However, for it to now happen again so soon after, will no doubt have Dike questioning just exactly where he has gone wrong, and what might come next for him in his career.

As a result it is going to be a long road back for him that will continue into his time on the pitch as he builds his confidence over going into situations where he might pick up an injury.

He will surely need plenty of support to overcome those challenges. Moments like these do seem to show that at West Brom he is in a very good place to get that backing.

That should at least keep his spirits up and provide him the motivation he needs to get back playing again for Carlos Corberan‘s side.
