West Brom were forced to deal with plenty of frustration in their 2-2 draw away at Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Having twice led in the game, the Baggies will have been disappointed not to have left Portman Road with all three points.
Even more disappointing though, will have been the latest injury suffered by Daryl Dike.
The West Brom striker had not been long back from a ruptured Achilles tendon that had kept him out for almost a year, when featuring on Saturday.
But after being stretchered off on Saturday just nine minutes after being brought on as a substitute, Baggies fans will have been fearing the worst for the American.
Those concerns have indeed now been realised. It was confirmed on Monday that Dike has now ruptured his other Achilles tendon. As a result, the 23-year-old is now expected to be out until the end of the calendar year.
Now, it seems there is a belief some considerable measures may need to be taken, to help him recover from the mental toll of this latest blow.
Dike may need ‘professional help’ after latest injury
With the striker so clearly and understandably devastated by this latest setback, there will also be questions about how he copes with this, once he is back on the pitch.
That is something that has led Chris Lepkowski to suggest the West Brom striker may need outside support to recover from this setback.
Speaking about Dike on the Liquidator Podcast, the Baggies journalist and author said:
“I actually said to somebody that we’re in post-traumatic syndrome with him. You could almost make a case for him getting professional help, from a mental point of view. Because of the psychological damage all of this might cause to him.
“Not so much the recovery, not so much the injury, but actually what will happen when he plays again, because it’s going to take such a toll mentally, knowing that at any given point, in the past, his body, his muscles, his ligaments have given up on him.”

West Brom will have to look into support for Dike
It does feel as though this suggestion is one that may be worth considering for the Baggies and boss Carlos Corberan.
At 23-years-old, Dike has already missed a huge amount of his career due to injury. That is not something he is going to want to continue, if he is to live up to the potential he has shown already.
In turn, that may make him more wary about entering into certain duels when he returns to playing, in order to avoid another similar setback.
However, if he does go down that way, he is not going to be able to give his best for West Brom, or any other club.
Should that be the case, it is likely to hinder his career in that way instead, with clubs potentially reluctant to use a player who is not in a position to give everything, whatever the reason.
As a result, you feel this sort of help might well be required here for the good of both West Brom, and Dike himself.
