West Brom striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has given one of his Baggies teammates a huge shoutout after the weekend win over Blackburn Rovers.

West Brom welcomed Blackburn Rovers in the Champisonhip last weekend.

And it was a second-successive 4-1 win for the Baggies after they thumped Aldershot Town in the FA Cup beforehand.

Against Blackburn, Tom Fellows was on the scoresheet, whilst Thomas-Asante scored twice, with an own goal making up the four West Brom goals on the day.

The game also saw a first start of the season for Adam Reach; the 30-year-old has spent a lot of time on the sidelines this season but returned to action at the end of last year.

He played 60 minutes against Rovers, staring on the left side of midfield amid a string of injuries and unavailability in attack.

Brandon Thomas-Asante gives huge shoutout to ‘unsung hero’ Adam Reach

Speaking to the club, Thomas-Asante gave a heartwarming review of Reach’s performance and his overall presence in the side:

“I’d really like to give Reachy a special mention. He’s probably been an unsung hero for a large part of his time here and definitely since I’ve been here.

“The way he applies himself is brilliant. He’s been through injuries and has always come back. He’s always one of, if not the fittest member of the squad and he continues to show his quality.

“He always puts so much effort into every little thing that he does and he’s a great example for us all to follow.

“Sometimes people don’t get a mention, but I thought he was excellent on Saturday against Blackburn.

“He came into the side for the first time since April I believe and produced a really good performance, so we were all delighted for him.”

Reach can be West Brom saviour over the next few weeks

Right now, options on the wing are very low.

Carlos Corberan is without Matt Phillips and Grady Diangana and so Reach’s return from injury, and strong performance vs Blackburn Rovers is certainly a positive for West Brom, as Thomas-Asante points out.

Since joining in 2021, Reach has featured 54 times in the Championship, with 18 of those coming last season after injury started to take ahold of the former Sheffield Wednesday man.

And Reach has garnered a reputation as being something of a utility man; he’s a player who often fills in wherever needed, but whatever he’s tasked with, he always does a steady job.

Corberan will no doubt ease him back into Championship action but if he can stay fit and build some form, he could play a key role for West Brom over the next few weeks.

Up next for the Baggies is a trip to Norwich City in the Championship this weekend.
