West Brom have been criticised over their ticket pricing for the FA Cup clash vs Wolves later this month.

West Brom and Wolves meet in an FA Cup fourth round clash later this month.

It comes after Wolves scored a dramatic winner over Brentford in their third round clash, booking the tie with West Brom at The Hawthorns.

It’s the first Black County clash since the two teams met in the Premier League in 2021 and Wolves will go in search of their first win at The Hawthorns since 1996.

But one aspect of the game has brought criticism from BBC journalist Ryan Leister.

Ryan Leister aims bizarre dig at West Brom over Wolves ticket pricing

West Brom announced yesterday that tickets for the Wolves game are on sale, with an adult ticket costing just £20.

But Leister believes that the Baggies have priced the Wolves tickets so low because of fears that they won’t have a sell-out crowd in what will be a televised early kick-off on the Sunday.

The BBC pundit posted on X:

Leister adds that a replay would suit West Brom in terms of finances and that it’s ‘amusing’ that the Baggies would ‘rather lose money by only giving Wolves the 4000 (seat) requirement & leaving seats unsold’.

West Brom currently sit in 5th place of the Championship table whilst Gary O’Neil’s Wolves find themselves in 11th place of the Premier League table after a run of three-straight wins in the top flight.

Black Country derby bound to sell out anyway

Many, perhaps on both sides of this, would argue that the game would sell out no matter what the price of a ticket was.

It’s a Black Country derby and it’s one that fans always look forward to, and with both clubs in good form this season, it should make for a very feisty and competitive game.

Leister’s viewpoint may be laughable to most but West Brom should actually be due praise for selling tickets at a very reasonable price, especially given the financial turmoil that the club finds itself in right now.

Carlos Corberan‘s West Brom are first in action against Norwich City this weekend, whilst Wolves go up against Brighton on the Monday.

The Baggies head to Carrow Road for what promises to be a tough away day, and Corberan will be hoping that he doesn’t add to his already-lengthy injury list ahead of the crucial Wolves clash.
