West Brom’s on-loan attacker Andi Weimann has been speaking about his future beyond this summer.
Back in the January transfer window, the 32-year-old joined Carlos Corberan‘s side on loan until the end of the season.
Weimann made that move, from the Baggies’ Championship rivals Bristol City. Since then, he has gone on to make nine appearances in all competitions for the club.
In that time, he has scored two goals and provided two assists for West Brom. That has helped the club move ever closer to securing a place in the play-offs.
However, it seems that Weimann is not thinking beyond that battle for promotion, when it comes to his own future.
Andreas Weimann on his future
As well as his loan with West Brom, Weimann’s contract with Bristol City is also due to come to expire at the end of this season.
That of course, means the attacker will be a free agent in the summer. But despite that, it appears he has yet to hold any talks about extending his stay at The Hawthorns.
However, it seems as though he is not ruling out such a move at this time. For now though, the attacker appears more concerned about the club’s battle for promotion.
When asked if has considered his future beyond this loan with West Brom, Weimann told Kicker in his native Austria:
“No, because I still have some important games ahead of me with West Brom, and I’m pursuing a big goal with them. There’s still a lot at stake. I’m free in the summer, but now I’m fully focused on my task at West Bromwich, to get into the playoffs and maybe even get promoted.
“If it goes well, they might offer me a contract and if not, it still doesn’t look too bad that I might end up with another team that’s playing for promotion again. I have no stress or pressure. I’m enjoying the fact that we’re playing for something now and then we’ll see in the summer.”
Weimann and the Baggies are next in action on Friday afternoon, when they travel to The Den to face Millwall.

West Brom should consider permanent Andi Weimann deal
It would seem to make sense for the club to at least look into a permanent deal for Weimann.
While he has not grabbed the headlines like Mikey Johnston has, the Austrian has still done a decent job since arriving at The Hawthorns.
He has contributed to some important goals, either scoring or assisting. As a result, he could be a useful option for them to turn to in the Championship.
Beyond that, given he will be available on a free transfer, this would be a low risk move for West Brom from a financial perspective.
However, the goalposts will likely change for the Baggies and Weimann, if they win promotion this season.
It would be a much bigger ask for the striker to contribute, if the club were back in the top-flight. Promotion of course, would also give those at The Hawthorns more funds to work with when it comes to investing in the squad.
As a result, that could see them to turn to alternative tarets to Weimann. With that in mind, this may be a deal worth looking into for West Brom this summer, if they are still a Championship club.
