West Brom took another step towards securing their place in the Championship play-offs on Saturday afternoon.

A 2-0 win over Bristol City at The Hawthorns secured back to back victories for the Baggies.

Indeed, they are now unbeaten in their last six games. That run means they remain 5th in the Championship table.

Indeed, Carlos Corberan‘s side are now eight points clear of 7th place Hull City in the race for a top six spot.

One man who certainly made an impact for West Brom in that win on Saturday, was Tom Fellows, who continued the form that has recently earned him some significant recognition.

Tom Fellows justifies his international call-up

Earlier this week, Fellows was named in the England Under 20 squad for the upcoming international break.

That is the first time the West Brom winger has been named in any international squad, and he vindicated that decision on Saturday.

With the game goalless on the stroke of half time, it was Fellows who opened the scoring. With that strike, the 20-year-old has now scored six goals in all competitions this season.

This latest strike is one that has earned the West Brom more yet more praise for his exploits.

Describing that goal on The Express and Star’s Live blog, reporter Jonny Drury wrote:

“What a time to score. Albion get forward down the left after a move started by Fellows on the right, ball goes out to Johnston, shifts across to Yokuslu and then Johnston and onto Fellows.

“Cuts in and wrong foots the keeper to finish at the near post. Superb goal, and a superb week after his England call.”

According to SofaScore, Fellows recored an Expected Goals tally of just 0.14 against Bristol City. That does highlight the quality of his finish here.

Fellows also recorded a 75% pass success rate for this game, and won two of the four duels he was involved in.

This therefore, may be seen as another eye-catching performance from the 20-year-old.

West Brom fans will be loving winger’s success

Many of those of a Baggies persuasion will surely be relishing what Fellows is doing right now.

Having come through the youth ranks with the club, it will be hugely satisfying to see him thriving at senior level.

That will only be made even more enjoyable for those connected with West Brom, by the fact he is now being acknowledged for that on the international stage.

Indeed, with Fellows stepping up with such an important contribution at such a key moment on Saturday, giving them vital momentum for the second half, it does seem as though those who took the decision to call him up have been proven right.

However, it seems as the winger is now becoming a key player for Corberan’s side.

As a result, many cnnected with West Brom will be desperate to see him come back from England duty without any knocks, ahead of such a crucial run-in.
