West Brom legend Tony ‘Bomber’ Brown has defended the current crop of Baggies after they were beaten by relegation rivals Oxford United on Saturday.
Speaking after Albion slumped to a 14th away game without a win at the Kassam Stadium, Bomber pointed out that the squad’s challenges are mental as much as physical, as he described the performance as “tired”.

He said on BBC WM: “Not only are the West Brom players tired physically, but also mentally – we forget about that part of the game.
“The dressing room at this moment in time will be down and no one will be smiling, and rightly so.
“Albion haven’t really performed today and they haven’t produced enough going forward to create goals.
“It will be a horrible place in the dressing room now, but it has happened and these players need to move on.”

Known for his spectacular goals, the bomber really is a West Brom legend. He scored 279 goals in 720 appearances between 1963 and 1980.
Current club captain Jed Wallace spoke of a six-point target of a possible nine set by the players going into this week. They have recorded just one in the draw with Charlton, which resulted in Eric Ramsay’s sacking.
West Brom remain just one point clear of the relegation zone with just 11 games remaining and four of their next five fixtures against sides currently sitting in the top 10 of the Championship.
