West Brom were involved in another thrilling and eventful match on Wednesday night.

Travelling to Loftus Road to face QPR, the Baggies will have been looking to make it back to back wins to cement their place in the Championship play-off places.

However, they were eventually forced to settle for a 2-2 draw. It could even be argued that their hosts were unlucky not to take more from that game.

QPR also missed a penalty early in the second half, while West Brom defender Cedric Kipre appeared to use his hand to clear another chance off the line.

Even so, with a point on the board, results elsewhere mean Carlos Corberan‘s side are now five points clear of 7th place Norwich City in the race for a top six spot.

Now it seems as though new West Brom chairman Shilen Patel enjoyed the drama of that match, and in particular the away following from his side.

Shilen Patel gives ‘tough’ verdict after Baggies draw

Last week saw Patel complete his takeover at The Hawthorns, with his company Bilkul Football becoming the club’s new owners.

Patel has also take on the role of chairman, and was in attendance to watch Wednesday’s match with QPR.

Taking to X to give his thoughts on the match, he was quick to praise the West Brom support, while acknowledging this was a hard fought result.

Patel is also confident of a win next time out, as he wrote:

“Tough point in a tough place. The traveling Baggies support was phenomenal! We’ll get the next one #COYB”.

Next up for West Brom is a trip to the John Smith’s Stadium to face Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

Not a bad result for West Brom

Despite what the table might suggest, this may still a good point for the Baggies.

While QPR may be battling relegation, they are in excellent form at the minute.

Prior to that match with West Brom, the R’s had won three straight games, including a 2-1 win away at league leaders Leicester City.

So to go to Loftus Road and pick up a point is not a bad effort for Corberan’s side. That is further enhanced by the fact that the Baggies have not always been the strongest on the road this season.

Indeed, with Norwich City having lost on Wednesday, West Brom have in fact gained a point in the play-off place.

Meanwhile, the fact that Patel remains so invested and vocal about the club, as he promised to be, is also a welcome sight for those at The Hawthorns.

As a result, this looks to have been a fairly solid night all round for West Brom.
