West Brom picked up another point in their pursuit of a Championship play-off place on Saturday afternoon.
The Baggies played out a 1-1 draw with fellow top six hopefuls Hull City at the MKM Stadium.
Carlos Corberan‘s side were forced to come from behind, after Fabio Carvalho’s strike had opened the scoring for the hosts.
They would get that before half time through Darnell Furlong, who netted his third goal of the season.
Now, that strike from the right-back has seemingly highlighted a side to his game that is perhaps not talked about all that often.
Darnell Furlong a ‘powerhouse’ in the air: Sky pundit
That goal from Furlong came when he headed home from a corner taken by Jed Wallace.
In doing so, the West Brom full-back was able to escape and outmuscle his opposition defender, before guiding the ball into the far corner.
It was a goal that Don Goodman believes showed a part of Furlong’s abilities that he does not get enough credit for.
Speaking about the goal while commentating for Sky Sports, the former West Brom striker said:
“Well he’s a secret weapon you know, Darnell Furlong. I’ve watched him over the years and massively underestimated powerhouse when it comes to the ball being in the air and heading ability.
“He’s aggressive in his movement and he’s almost being wrestled, but he gets across and gets the perfect contact. This is barely even a chance. He’s way beyond that near post. That little flick into the ground is the thing that does for Ryan Allsop. No chance for Allsop, brilliant from Furlong.”
With that goal and point ensuring the Baggies remain 5th in the Championship table, Carlos Corberan’s side are next in action on Friday night.
That sees them host another play-off rival, Coventry City, at The Hawthorns in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Darnell Furlong a key man for West Brom
This observation about a part of Furlong’s game being underrated, could arguably reflect on his part within the Baggies side.
The 28-year-old is not a player who is talked about regularly for West Brom, in comparison to those who make a more consistent impact in front of goal.
However, he does remain a consistent presence in the starting lineup for Corberan’s side. Indeed Furlong has featured in every single league games that the Baggies have played this season.
In all but two of those matches, he has been a starter for West Brom. Throughout that time, he has been a consistently reliable performer for the Baggies on the right of their defence.
His long throws have become a major asset for the club, while he has also chipped in with some important contributions in front of goal, just as he did today.
As a result, if West Brom are to win promotion back to the Premier League this season, Furlong will have had a big part to play in that success.
