West Brom defender Conor Townsend has been speaking following a 2-1 defeat against Southampton over the weekend.
West Brom‘s excellent run of form ended on Saturday after high-flying Southampton beat the Baggies 2-1.
The loss was Albion’s first in five matches and now leaves them sitting in seventh, just outside the coveted playoff places.
After the loss, defender Conor Townsend has insisted that the squad are happy with where they find themselves at this international break.
Speaking with the BBC, Townsend argued that the Baggies played well against the Saints and were unlucky not to walk out with three points.

Townsend on current West Brom position
“We played some good stuff and will take the positives,” Townsend said.
“We created a lot of chances in the second half but everyone could see what type of game it was and, in my opinion, looked the more likely to score but that’s the Championship.
“We lost and that’s all that matters but we’ve got a bit of a break now and come back and look to put it right.”
Townsend then went on to hint that after the international break, Albion could kick on again.
“We’ve lost every game before the international breaks, which is obviously not great, but we’ve got good results in the first games back,” the 30-year-old added.
“If we can come back from the break and put a run together like we just have there’s no reason why we can’t be in the play-offs.”
West Brom staff and Carlos Corberan will be increasingly confident of playoff football being at The Hawthorns in May.
Townsend has been an ever-present for the Baggies this season with 15 Championship appearances for Albion already this campaign.
